Tom Smythe, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on November 11, 1939, in San Francisco, Tom's journey was one of family, love and laughter.
In 1976, Tom met the love of his life, Jody, in New York City's garment center. Their love story spanned five decades, a testament to their unwavering commitment and devotion to each other. Together, they shared countless adventures, building a beautiful life across coasts, ultimately settling in Florida, where they raised their children, Lauren (Dan) and Alex (Brittany).
Tom's pride and joy were his grandchildren, Olivia, Avery, and Dylan, who brought immense happiness into his life. He cherished every moment spent with them.
Tom found solace on the golf course and tennis courts. He loved a good suntan, always with his Ray-Bans by his side.
His larger-than-life personality, infectious humor, and boundless generosity left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Tom was the life of the party, the funniest guy in the room, and the epitome of kindness. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His magnetic presence and genuine compassion touched the lives of all who crossed his path.
Though Tom may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate enough to call him friend, father, grandfather, and husband. He will be dearly missed but never, ever forgotten.
Rest in peace, Tom. Your legacy will endure for generations to come.
