Seymour Howard Munzer, MD, also known as Sy Munzer, passed away on September 23, 2024 at the age of 77 in Tamarac, Florida. He was born on July 6, 1947 to Salomon W. and Dorothy Munzer. He was a dermatologist, known for his dedication to his patients and his contributions to the early detection and prevention of skin cancer through screenings in his office and community. He had medical practices in Pembroke Pines and Tamarac, FL. He was not only a healer but also a source of joy and laughter. He was always ready with a joke to brighten the day for everyone. Sy completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Wayne State University. He completed a dermatology residency at Case Western Reserve which shaped a career that touched and saved many lives. Beyond his professional achievements, Sy had a spirited love for life, which manifested in his diverse hobbies. He was an avid baseball player and supported local sports through his team...the Munzer Marauders. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for horseback riding. He loved to play board games and chess. Additionally, Sy expressed his creative side through writing poetry and short stories. Sy was a beloved father, brother, healer, and friend. He is survived by his sons, Michael and David Munzer, and his sister, Debbie Alder. His memory will be honored at a Celebration of Life on October 13, 2024 at noon. It will be held at Menorah Gardens & Funeral Chapel in Southwest Ranches, FL. Contributions in Sy's memory can be made in lieu of flowers to Magen David Adom or the American Diabetes Association supporting the causes that were related to Sy's interest in health and community. Sy's legacy of care, humor, and kindness will be dearly missed by his family, friends and patients.
