Ruth loved entertainment of all kinds, from Opera to Theater to Movies and TV. Her love of laughter influenced her son Hank Azaria to pursue a career in comedy. As a young woman she worked in the publicity department of Columbia Pictures in NYC. One of the last living fluent speakers of Ladino, a Spanish dialect spoken by Sephardic Jews, she served as a representative for the studio’s Latin territories. It was a job she loved almost as much as her role as homemaker, wife and mother.
She is predeceased by her long time husband, Albert. They were married in December 1950 for 63 years, and they shared the same birthday. They resided in Forest Hills, New York until 1981, when they moved to Miami Florida. She is survived by three children, Stephanie, of Glen Rock NJ (Thomas Von Lindern), Elise of Los Angeles CA (Jeff Lane), and Hank of New York City (Kate Azaria). She had four grandchildren, Ethan and Molly Von Lindern (Stephanie) Amanda Lane Murphy (Elise) and her husband Grady, and Hal Azaria (Hank). Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and was a gifted story teller. She had many many friends and was a very social woman. She loved her family very much and was a devoted mother.
There will be a funeral service at Menorah Gardens Cemetery on Friday June 10 at 12 noon. The cemetery is at 21100 W Griffin Road in SW Ranches, FL 33332. The burial will follow. Please make any donations to Alzheimers research in lieu of sending flowers.
