It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Joshua Lawrence Freesman. Josh will be greatly missed everyday by his mother Kari, his father Mark, sister Jaclyn Breslerman (Ben), brother Zachary Freesman (Jillian), his grandparents Rena Entus (late Eddy), Irving Litvack, Boris Freesman (late Joyce), and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and friends.
Joshua was born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 24, 1987, and spent his childhood in Toronto; Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and Weston, Florida, where he played and excelled at team sports. Josh had a passion for playing, coaching, and refereeing basketball, where his patience and compassion shone through. Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Florida. Along with excelling academically and completing his undergraduate degree in three years, Josh served on the executive board of Alpha Epsilon Pi and ACCENT, and was inducted as a member of Florida Blue Key. During his time at UF, Josh was known for his outgoing personality, and could always be found on the dance floor. Josh continued his education, earning a Master of Accounting at Yeshiva University in NYC, and becoming a Certified Public Accountant. Josh was a self-taught artist, with a talent for bringing animals to life through his drawings. Throughout his life, Josh was nurturing, gentle, and generous, continuously looking for ways to help those less fortunate than him.
We will persevere, we will laugh, we will cry, and we will thrive, as he would want us to. But life will never be the same without Josh.
Services will be held at Menorah Gardens & Funeral Chapels in Southwest Ranches, Florida, on October 14, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MLSE Foundation, an Ontario based organization working to better the lives of underprivileged youth through sport and recreation, or NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), an organization that provided Josh and his family with tremendous support and guidance.
