Helena B. Marlowe, 88, of Coconut Creek FL, passed away June 22, 2022 after a long illness. Originally from Brooklyn, she was a registered nurse who devoted much of her career to the care of children and premature infants. Helen started her career in the pediatric unit of Helen Hayes Hospital in Nyack, NY. She was head nurse of the NICU at Jackson Memorial and Hollywood Memorial Hospitals through the 1970s and 1980s. She also worked as a pediatric emergency flight nurse and an AIDS hospice nurse. She held a nursing degree from Rockland Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Barry University and a Master of Public Health degree from FIU. In addition to her professional pursuits, Helen was a talented creative writer, sculptor and was involved in theater arts as an actor, playwright and director. Helen put on some well received productions at the Township Center for the Performing Arts in Coconut Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Sally Birnbaum, her sister Florence Schechter, and her husband Thomas Siemons. She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Marlowe of Nashville and Jane Marlowe of New York, and her beloved grandchildren Jackson Oglesby, Katie Marlowe and Tyler Marlowe. Graveside inurnment service will take place at Menorah Gardens in Southwest Ranches, FL on March 19, 2023 at
11:30 am.
