Cookie Baron, 80, of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Beloved mother of Lane and Dale; loving mother-in-law of Lori and Jeff; doting grandmother of Jenna and Brooke; dear sister of Carol Ramos and cherished niece of Laura LaSalvia. She is preceded by her father Leroy Bott and mother Ruth Fisher.
Born in Philadelphia as Frances Louise Bott, her father said she was as cute as a cookie and from that moment on Cookie was her name!
The Botts moved to Hollywood in 1957. Cookie was studious and a self-taught artist. She married her high school sweetheart Bruce Baron. They settled in Pembroke Pines, where they had two sons, Lane and Dale. Motherhood was filled with baseball games at the optimist club, piano lessons and temple (one of Temple Beth Emet's early members). She was also a coveted block mom of NW 19th Street — a tight-knit neighbors that felt like family.
She worked in the medical field, first as a dietary aide at Memorial Regional Hospital, then ran the offices of orthopedic surgeons Dr. Brett Luskin and Dr. Michael Langone, taking great pride in growing the practice.
An accomplished entrepreneur, she launched Baron’s Typehouse, creating ads and early newsletters for Temple Beth Emet. A skilled calligraphist, she also created hand-lettered invitations.
Cookie’s philosophy was always family first, taking care of her tribe. Weekly dinners with homemade mandel bread, holidays filled with menorah lighting and holiday tree decorating. Her greatest joy was watching her granddaughters grow up. Her friends remained close. And just as she loved her people, she loved her dogs and all animals.
How we will miss her flair, quick wit and say-it-like-it-is approach. If you knew her, you know… there’s only one Cookie.
Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, 12/23 at Temple Beth Emet, 4807 S Flamingo Rd, Cooper City, FL 33330
