Bill was born November 14, 1934, son of the late Frank and Linnea Miles. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and worked at Lockheed Martin for the entirety of his career as an aerospace engineer. He lived in Colorado most of his life. He loved nature; especially the mountains, the tropics and all animals. He was an avid collector of many things, most notably Hawaiian shirts which he wore every day.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Miles; four children, Cathy Mayer, Jody Cook, Holly Garner, and Linnea Mahabir; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Fay Miles, Beth Green, and Joan Norris; and grandson, Michael Mayer.
A graveside service will be held at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
