Tim was born on December 4, 1947 in Astoria, Queens, NY, son of the late John Joseph Coffey and Katherine Nichols Coffey.
He grew up on Long Island, in Kings Park, NY, and at 17 years of age he met the girl who would become his wife, Judith. They were married for 54 years, raising two children.
In 1974, he started a successful printed circuit design business, using computer software to design printed circuit boards. In 2013, he and his wife retired from St. James, Long Island, to St. James, North Carolina, to continue a long-time interest in golf. He also enjoyed collecting and playing his guitars, and he enjoyed dinners out with his group of friends at St. James Plantation.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judith Coffey; two children: daughter, Carol Coffey Ford and husband Darryl, and son, Robert James Coffey; two grandsons, Jonathan Ford and Timothy Ford, and brother, Daniel Joseph Coffey. He was preceded in death by another brother, John Marion Coffey.
The family will have visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with a celebration of his life 2:00pm on Thursday, December 9 in the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in honor of Timothy Coffey to Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter on Oak Island, NC at seabiscuitwildlifeshelter.org or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
