Mrs. Henry was born June 2, 1923, in Kemper County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Samuel and Maggie Clark Oden. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years, singing in the choir as well as working on the communion committee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Clewis and husband Earl of Southport, John Melton of Wilmington, Rodney Melton of Boiling Spring Lakes and Dianne Ristow and husband Rick of Papillion, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Amy Clewis Van Dyne, Rodney Melton Jr., Michael (“Rock”) Clewis, Kara Melton, Lauren McClendon, Wendy Ristow and Scott Ristow; 12 great-grandchildren, Ariel, Alex, Caison, Carly, Wyatt, Billy, Nathan, Shelby, Cameron, Jamey, Lucy and Sadie; and three great-great-grandchildren, Carlene, J.W. and Ana.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Garrett Albertson and Reverend Bryan Faggert officiating. Burial followed in Northwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael (“Rock”) Clewis, Scott Ristow, Rodney Melton Jr., Alex Melton, Billy Ready and Nathan McClendon.
A time of visitation with the family was held Monday evening at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Carillon Assisted Living for all the extraordinary care they took with Mrs. Henry. The family also appreciates all the love and prayers shown to the family during this difficult time.
