Leonard was born November 7, 1943 in Southport, son of the late Leonard Lewis, Sr. and Catherine McRoy Lewis. He was raised in Southport and was a veteran of the US Navy. Leonard worked as Longshoreman with the ILA Local 1838. Leonard loved to play softball and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his two daughters, Angie Goodwin and husband Mike, and Shanna Lewis; four grandchildren, Amber Goodwin, Jamie Holden, Courtney Goodwin, and Kendra Goodwin; two great-grandchildren, Amar'e Johnson and Malachi Camacho; two sisters, Aileen Coleman and Debbie Blackburn; a special niece, Ashlei Blackburn Long; and his dog Bella Girl. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Jo Lewis; and his dog Neiko.
No services are planned however the family will receive friends at his home.
