I don’t know if you remember me or not but my name is Jack Schrolucke from New Knoxville Ohio. Larry and I went all thru the Army together and MP’s stationed in Kansas and also Viet Nam and RR in Sidney Australia along with Louie. We called ourselves the 3 Musketeers . We shared so many good times together including our love for sports.  One of the last times I saw him was in NY when  Larry and you took my wife and me to dinner. It was truly a special night. 
. I did not know of his passing until a few days ago and was deeply saddened by his passing. He was such a good friend with  so many great memories. They always called me German because of my last name and I told my family many times of the stories about Larry and I. 
I just wanted to send my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

One of our fondness memories was playing on the Father’s Day event with Larry and Katie and my daughter Nicole.

To: Jamie, Kerry, Jamie & Katie:  I was so sorry to learn of Larry's passing.  He is one of the best.  Losing touch with you guys when you moved to Kansas was sad but I always felt we would catch up  along the way somehow.  We ran into the waiter Larry got such a kick out of recently; "vedie good, vedie healthy" and that brought back memories of our dinners together.  His dry sense of humor and the heated discussions with Julio over Larry's Wednesday afternoon foursome parings were epic.  I never would have imagined not seeing him again. Larry was the best. Everybody at KU and in Lawrence loved and respected him during his 16 years in town. Condolences to the family. Larry will be mighty popular in heaven cause everybody wants to know somebody as nice, as interesting and as special as Larry Keating.

Jaime.......We were devastated to receive the news about Larry.  We had dinner with Jerry Oswald  in  late January at Sea Island and he told us Larry had been in Duke Hospital.  At that time I reached out to Chrissy's (my youngest) good friend, Kate Sheerin, to get me your address from Jerome.  She never came through and I had no idea time was so important.  I remember our Big East trips, times at MSG but my favorite memories are at Atlantic Beach Club ( we are still there !! ).  Late at night, in the back, sitting/lying in a lounge chair with a big smile on his face asking ,  "Who has it better than this?" I truly wish we could go back to those times just for a day.  We send our love and hugs to all your family.

Always thought of Larry as being one of my best friends.  He would always pick me up when we going to join the rest of the gang. He would drive around in his front wheel drive chevelle or whatever it was and in the snow we would have fun doing wheelies.   He always made the guys laugh and was part of the brain trust that organized the famed Warren Buick softball team in 1962.  One funny memory was he was at bat, bases loaded, late in the game.  It was a full count and Larry watched a called strike three.  I asked him why he did not swing and he told me he didn't think the ump had the guts to call him out! He was always thinking out of the box.  
Jamie, I am so sorry for your loss.  He will be remembered by a great many, I am sure, as one of their best friends but you were his only best friend.  May he rest in peace!

I am so sorry for your loss. Larry was so kind, so funny. He told me our cooking couldn’t hold a candle to Mrs. Keating. But it wasn’t bad. The prosciutto was never thin enough. The red sauce never had enough herbs. He always smiled and shook my hand when he told me that, saying “but we’ll be back soon.” xoxo Keatings, you’re all in my thoughts.
