Mr. Melton was born February 18, 1951 in Mecklenburg County, NC, son of the late Allen Leroy Melton and Edith Miller Melton. Jerry was an avid fisherman. He and his wife moved to the beach from Burke County in 2022 so that he could be near the ocean and fish. He was a truck driver for Klockner Metals for 35 years and had over 3 million miles of accident free driving.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Melton; a daughter, Traci Melton; a granddaughter, Rose Benson; a brother, Larry Melton; two step-daughters, Sonya Hart and Fonda Hart; a step-grandson, Tristen Hart; four nephew, Ernie Helms, Steve Melton, Chris Melton, Allen Melton; and two nieces, Crystal Melton and Danielle Melton.
Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Craig Melton and Ray Melton; and a niece, Melissa Melton.
A celebration of his life will be held at the family home on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
