Today I was thinking of Capt. Bailey. He was my commanding officer onboard USS Blakely. He also was the President of the Chief selection board the year I made chief. I recalled him today because my son will soon be eligible for selection to Chief. Capt. Bailey was personable, professional and encouraging. He listened to his sailors. I was saddened to see that he passed away some time ago. God bless his soul and those of his family. 

Think of you often Captain Bailey and even more on this July 4th weekend. Thank you for serving our country and leading other Navy personnel.  Your kind spirit lives on.....

Capt. Bailey, you have been on my mind often these past few weeks. When I searched for you I saw that you had passed. It was an honor to know you and serve as your last CMC. GOD bless.

I just heard of Harry's death.  He was a school friend in grade school and high school.  He was a good, smart and honorable friend. Thanks to his years in the Navy, we were all safer.  My sincere sympathies to the entire family.

Audrey and family--Joye and I were saddened by the news of Harry's passing. Many great memories from times on Borie and later in the TAR community. A fine shipmate and honorable man!

I just learned of Harry's passing and want to express my deepest sympathies. I served with Harry in New Orleans on the staff of COMEIGHT/REDCOM 10 and always had the highest respect for his professionalism as a naval officer. May God bless and be with the Bailey family during these difficult times.

Linda and I send our sincere condolences at this time.  We first encountered the Bailey Family in about 1968 in Norfolk, Virginia.  Since that time, we have maintained contact with not only some of the oldest, but also dearest friends we have.  Harry was a fine naval officer and sailor who dearly loved his wife and family.  We are honored to have known him and to have counted him a friend.

We hope to attend the inurnment in Arlington.

Glenn and I were so sorry to hear of Harry's passing. We have a lot of fond memories having been neighbors in Winston Salem when you both moved in across the street. Harry always had a smile on his face and was such a delight to talk to and be around. Harry was such a kind and gentle man, was always positive, and proud of his military service. I had the honor to care for the Captain for a short time.. But a short time is all I needed to be blessed by him. Even on bad days he made my heart smile. He had a heart of pure gold. Every time I hear Johnny Cash or old time gospel hymns I think of the CAPTAIN, every time I go to the gym I think of the captain even at times I just want to be lazy I can hear him saying "if I can do, you can do it" he was my inspiration and as always fuzzy peach after, thanks to the captain for your blessings on me and thank you Audrey for sharing the special captain, I will always remember The Bailey's and be blessed by the Great captain.. My prayers  are with the family.

Susan and I are saddened by Harry's passing. Navy friends are special in that no matter how long we are apart, when we talk or meet, it is though it were just yesterday. We thank you for all the kindnesses the Bailey's have provided to the Cohn's over the years. "Fair Winds and Following Seas" to our shipmate, Captain Bailey. May God bless the Bailey Family.
