You were a very good friend for many years until we lost contact some time ago ! Time nor Distance erase the memories or caring !  Know you have and always be with us in our hearts  !

I did not know Gary for very long, but the short time I knew him, he was always pleasant and so nice. The first time I met him I asked if I could rub his bald head, he laughed, and I told him my friend Kay put me up to it. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Gary was a true professional and a steady rock.  His word was solemn and his tenure was unshakable.  Mostly though, he was my friend; and I will miss seeing him every few weeks.  I don't believe I will ever have another friend to collaborate with in the early dawn hours of the day.  Good Bye for now, brother.

Gary gave Thomas, now a senior in high school, his first haircut. Our family had many haircuts by Mr. Gary...we loved him very much and always will!

It has been said, "Every man's death diminishes me" (John Donne)  This death leaves me speechless. Gary has been the best barber for my husband and the best hairdresser for me. He always welcomed me with a smile, accommodated my latest fancies, and never let me go without a hug and a card for my next appointment. That one we won't be able to keep. Gary was the finest barber I ever had.  He will be sorely missed by all those he so selflessly helped.  Rest in peace friend.  Gary was a fine human being.

I used to work with Gary and just fell in love with him. We were very good friends and he always made me laugh no matter how down I was. I have not seen him in a long time and when they called to tell me he had passed It just broke my heart.
My prayers are for James and Gary's family.

Gary was one of my first friends on Oak Island, NC. His definition of friendship went beyond the usual. Gary would come to my house and cut my daddy's hair. He was a precious person and has left a huge hole in his community and in many hearts. JKE

I will have so many happy memory's.  for the  past 10 years I've been coming in the shop and he is always happy to see me and we have the best time picking on each other.

In all my years getting a haircut, I always looked forward to seeing Gary when we were in St. James and will miss him so much.  He always remembered our chats and always asked about my family. Getting a haircut was fun! 
He loved the boardwalks. They won't be the same without him.
Michelle, I am so sorry for you and hope you will carry on Gary's Barber Shop tradition.

Gary had a beautiful spirit.  Always kind, humorous, thoughtful and warm.  Even though I only knew him for a year and a half, through his shop, I woke up this morning thinking of him.  He left quite an impression on me.  A good man.  He will be missed!

I only knew Gary for a short period of time.  Met him thru Michelle but when he found out we were moving to Richmond County we became instant friends.
