Born on April 12, 1930 in Boston MA, she was the daughter of William and Florence Governor. She worked at Roses in Southport as Personnel Manager from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. She was Associate of the Month in April 1987. She enjoyed playing bunco with her friends and doing word searches. She enjoyed going to the beach, especially in Florida. She is remembered as a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Robert E. Triggs, and Gene W. Areno and his wife, Sherry D. Areno; her grandchildren, Tracey B. Triggs, Bobbie Triggs, Justin Triggs, Kyle Triggs, and Drew Mansfield; her great-grandchildren, Shelby Ramirez, Bailee Wilson, Savannah Triggs, Gracie Triggs, Christina Spittle, and Brooke Spittle; her great-great grandchildren, Callie R. Pilgrim, Grayson Boyd, Paisley Boyd, Alisonya Ramirez, Nova Spittle, Josie Davis, and Emmett Neeley.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Areno, in 1998; her daughter, Melinda M. Triggs in December 2024; her grandson, Dallas W. Triggs, in 2021; her brothers, Al Governor, Bill Governor and Charlie Governor; and her sister, Mary Lindholm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s honor to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington or SECU Hospice LifeCare Center in Bolivia.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Peacock - Newnam and White Funeral Home, 1411 N Howe St. Southport.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2025, her birthday, at 11:00 am in Cape Fear Memorial Park.
