I had the incredible privilege of meeting Earl on the General Mills Covington plant start up. I loved his humor and laughter.  He is surely missed by so many. 

The are no words to express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of Earl.  My thoughts and prayers have been with all of you since I first got word of his passing.  He was a boss in the early years of my career at General Mills that left a lasting memory.  Earl made work fun with his quick wit.  He was a very supportive mentor as well.  Still can remember our morning Production Meetings in his office on the floor of Fruit Roll Ups in Cedar Rapids.  Birthdays were celebrated in that little office and I still remember his when I mentioned that he was a year older than my father.  His reaction was priceless and I still laugh at my innocence back then with that comment.  He was a great Leader that loved his coffee (like me).  Still remember when we determined that perhaps we needed to switch to Decaf as the day went on given the affects of the caffeine.   When I was transferred to Lodi, Earl was still available when I needed him.  Facebook allowed us to reconnect after many years.  Allowed me to leave my annual Birthday Wishes to him.  Rest in Peace Earl, our loss on earth is Heavens gain.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Audrey, Jason and your loved ones. "Mr. Daigler" as he was formally known to me growing up, was one of those Dads-of-your-friends that just seemed different. Both of Jason's parents were like that. Maybe because they were well traveled and came from different parts of the US to Georgia. But mostly because of their personality and kind spirit. Earl was a father figure to many of Jason's friends, and he talked to you as an adult.  And later, as we became adults, he became your friend. I still remember golfing advice and some personal clubs he gave me when I was trying to learn the game. I know he will be missed sorely, but so happy that he lived to see his grandson Luke. 

May his memory live with you each day, and may you smile often when you recognize those traits that are of Earl that you adopt and carry on yourself.

We will always remember the farewell to Buffalo party at Dee's apartment in Boulevard Tower to celebrate Earl's promotion and your departure to Minneapolis in 1972. The reason, of course, was our first meeting. Forty-seven years later, thanks to that party, we are still together and have never left Buffalo.

Your friendship, through Christmas cards, and our great dinner together years ago, has kept our ties bound.  We shared your joy in welcoming Jason into your family, the birth of your grandchild, and wished you were closer.

Now we share your sorrow in losing, so quickly, your Dear Earl.  Audrey, we hope you find comfort in our wishes and prayers, your family and friends and the love you shared for so long. Sending our love and deepest sympathy,
