Mr. Varnam was born October 24, 1951 in Brownsville, Texas, son of the late Charles Lindberg Varnam and Eva Mae Sellers Varnam. He was a member of the Town Creek Hunting Club. He loved hunting, fishing, and his Ford Mustangs. Eddie was a foundation contractor for many years, laying foundations for homes all over Brunswick County.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jerry Edward Varnam; two daughters, Jill Hamm and husband John, and Holly Pelton and husband Geoff; six grandchildren, Megan Ashley Varnam, Haley Leanne Varnam, Makayla Nichole Hamm, Nathan Little, Emilee Little, and Kaylee Robbins; a great-grandson, Kane Dawson Gore; siblings, Barbara Delores Gray, Donnie Varnam and wife Cathy, and Michael Dale Varnam; his best friend, who became a forever brother, Tim Rivenbark; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Varnam; and a son, Ricky Dean Varnam.
The family will have visitation on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024 in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jared Galloway officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cape Fear Memorial Park.
