She was born in Lexington, NC on September 13, 1936, to Robert Alexander Williams, Jr. and Grace Elizabeth Hames Williams. Ann was a proud graduate of the Class of 1954 at Boyden High School in Salisbury, NC. She married Charles Crawford Corriher in 1958. They had a son, Charles (Chuck) Crawford Corriher, Jr. Although her husband passed suddenly when their son was only 4 years old, she let nothing stop her. She took on the role of mother, father, provider and much more. It was nothing for her to change the water pump in her car or dig the foundation for a carport by hand. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church in Salisbury where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Ann had a beautiful soprano voice. Her favorite song was “His Eye Is On the Sparrow” which she sang at many events. She was Manager of the Goodwill Store on Stokes Ferry Road in Salisbury until the new store was built on Jake Alexander Blvd, which she managed until her retirement. Goodwill Industries awarded her “Manager of the Year” and “Store of the Year” many times. She learned to fix small appliances and other things for resale.
She lived most of her life in Salisbury, moving to Oak Island, NC in 2018 to be near her sister, Carol and husband, Bill McCall. Ann and Carol enjoyed going to thrift stores and traveling back to Salisbury for Ann’s birthday each year. As her health declined, she moved to Southport Health and Rehab where she enjoyed church services and singing in the talent show. She won first place in 2024! She also loved checking out books at the Harper Library in Southport, often reading 10 to 20 books every week. Following the unnamed storm and flooding in Sept of this year, all residents were evacuated. Ann was placed at Shoreland Health and Rehab in Whiteville, NC. Unable to attend services at that facility, she always had someone find Dr. Charles Stanley on TV for worship. Ann had printed prayers that she said three times a day and a tattered list of people that she prayed for. There were many times when someone would stop by her room and ask if she was the “prayer lady”. When she put you on the list, you never came off.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Chuck, parents and two brothers, Philip Bryce Williams and Robert (Bobby) Alexander Williams III. She is survived by her sister, Carol and husband Bill McCall of Oak Island, Granddaughter, Wendi Michelle and husband Derek McCall of Quinton, Virginia, Great-Granddaughters, Lilly and Mia McCall also of Quinton, Virginia. Nieces, Jennifer and husband Mike Smith of Rockwell, NC, Shelia Witt of Rockwell, NC, Susan and husband Casey Black of Kannapolis, NC. Great Nieces, Payton Black, Cameron Black, Addyson Witt and Great Nephews, Matthew Burroughs, Jason Burroughs and Gavin Witt. Extended family includes Markus McCall and wife Judy, Isabella, Camden and Joncie McCall of Charlotte, NC.
A special thank you to all the staff at Southport Health and Rehab, Shoreland Health and Rehab and especially the Angels from Liberty Hospice in Whiteville for filling her final days with care and compassion as well as her faithful Chaplain, Rev. Geanna Walker and Hospice Chaplain, Rev. David Kelly.
