Sylvia (Marquis) Paradis, 97, of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Ivan Paradis. She was born on August 13, 1925 in St. Agatha, Maine, the daughter of the late Patrick and Marie (Ouellette) Marquis.
Sylvia was employed for many years at the former Allied Control Company. She was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church and Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam, CT.
She is survived by her children, Bob Paradis and wife Karen of FL., Jim Paradis and wife Linda of Southington, Ken Paradis and wife Rita of FL., Gloria Colonero and husband Vin of Southington, her grandchildren Jeff, Jason, Kate, Greg, and Dan, and 10 great grandchildren.
She also leaves her sisters Theresa Manship and Patricia Tully. She was predeceased by her daughters Evelyn Paradis and Diana Blair, and her granddaughter Denise Blair.
Sylvia was a beautiful woman who was committed to raising her family of six children. Her home was always open and neighbors, friends, and family, especially her grandchildren stopped in frequently ...and no one ever left her house hungry. She was an amazing cook and baker and famous for her banana bread and whoopie pies. Sylvia was also an avid sports fan and faithfully watched the UConn Women's Basketball team and the Boston Red Sox.
Sylvia believed in the power of prayer and the rosary and said many for all of us. Your love and devotion to our family Mom, will never be forgotten.
The family would also like to thank Accent Care Hospice and Palliative Care, and especially to Kara Colaccino, for her dedicated level of care that brought so much comfort to our mother and family.
A graveside service will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery in August for the immediate family.
