Columbia-On Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, Susan M. Spadjinske, age 45, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital after a valiant 21 month battle with cancer. She grew up in Southington and quickly became a lover of all things musical. She learned to play several instruments and was active in Southington High School Marching and Concert Bands. She went on to graduate from Lebanon Valley College of Annville, PA with a degree in music education and she received her Masters from Central CT State University. Susan spent the last 23 years as a music and choral teacher at Vernon Center Middle School.
In her spare time Sue loved dance, gardening and going to see Broadway shows. She cherished her cats Gizzie, Louis and Fluffy. She enjoyed putting food out for the birds and deer each winter. She also looked forward to spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire each year. Sue treasured spending time with her nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to her as ?Auntie Susie?. She always had a smile on her face and was truly a joy to be around. She will be dearly missed.
Sue is survived by her longtime boyfriend, Rob Siragusa, the love of her life. She also leaves her parents Gerry and Lucille Spadjinske, her sister Mary Lou Geremia and brother-in-law Sal, her brother Jeff and sister-in-law Annette, her nieces and nephews whom she absolutely adored, Victoria and Joshua Geremia, Alaina and Jarrod Spadjinske and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Li and her staff, especially Sheila Citrone and Brian at Manchester Memorial, the staff at Mass General, especially Dr. Shaw and Jennifer Logan NP and Yale-New Haven Hospital, who lovingly cared for Sue of these past several months.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church at 10 am for a Mass. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Calling hours will be on Monday Dec 9th from 4-7 p.m.
