Rose W. Callahan

Rose (Whalen) Callahan, 95, of Saco, ME and formerly of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Seal Rock Health Care Center in Saco. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Callahan, long time Southington Postmaster.

Born June 9, 1925 in Flaherty, KY, she was the daughter of the late Junious and Bevlah Lee (Maraman) Whelan.

Rose retired from North Center School in Southington. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the YMCA Senior Center. She moved to Maine to be near her family but always considered Southington her home.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Callahan of Boyton Beach, FL and Belgrade Lakes, ME; five grandchildren, Doris Sparks of Enfield, ME, David Callahan of Lewiston, ME, Kathryn Gilcreast of E. Waterboro, ME, Mary Andreozzi of Westbrook, ME and Carolyn Wilson of Fayston, VT; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, James Callahan (Jimmy) the love of her life, daughter-in-law, Joyce Callahan, five brothers and one sister.

Due to the current pandemic a memorial Mass will be held in the summer at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.
