He was born on Dec. 16, 1931 in Waterbury the son of the late Joseph and Adrienne (Fortin) Vachon. He served in the US Air Force with the Military Police, during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan for over 2 years. In 1965 he began a career with the Southington Police Department and served for 25 years. He was a sergeant and was also in the detective division. He loved his work as a Policeman and was very proud of his accomplishments. He was a member of the Southington Elks Club.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Denise J. Govoni and husband David,his sons, David R. Vachon and wife Teresa and Dennis W. Vachon and wife Pamela all of Southington, 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Govoni, Jolene and Allison Vachon, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Rene Vachon.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 5-8 p.m.
