

Wolcott - Robert O. McKenna, formerly of 7 Anita Terrace, Wolcott passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Robert ?Bob? McKenna was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Margaret ?Marge? (Gorman) McKenna.
Robert was born November 13, 1921 and was the son of the late William and Margaret (Pryor) McKenna and lived in Wolcott his entire life. Bob was one of the first police officers for the town of Wolcott; he proudly worked as a patrolman for fourteen years. He also worked for Peter & Paul Cadbury for many years before his retirement. Robert served his country honorably in the military as a Corporal in the 543 Division AAA during World War II in the German theater. Bob was a very enthusiastic Boston Red Sox fan, New York Giants fan; he loved watching UCONN basketball and was an avid golfer.
Robert is survived by his four children, Robert J. McKenna and his wife Grace, Patricia A. Ruby and her husband Michael, Martin J. McKenna and his wife Arlene, and Sandra Olmstead all from Wolcott. Bob is also survived by his brother George McKenna of Johnson, Vermont. He was predeceased by his brothers; Lieutenant John McKenna, who was also a Wolcott police officer, William McKenna, who was a 50 year member of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department, and a devoted sister Mary McKenna.
Robert has ten grandchildren, who loved him sincerely and affectionately called him ?Gee?, Carrie Pawlak and her husband Jim, Martin McKenna, Robert McKenna and wife Tina, Colleen Ashe and husband Joseph, Carissa Napolitano, Stacey Chiappalone and husband Michael, Anthony and Lauren McKenna, Michelle Lourenco and husband Diogo, and Gary Olmstead. He was ?Grampie? to fifteen great grandchildren, who loved him dearly: Corey McKenna, Ryan, Colin, Justin, Sean, and Quinn Pawlak, Mia and Mikey Chiappalone, DJ and Gianna Lourenco, Naythan Olmstead, Catlin, Paige, and Taylor McKenna, and Ethan Ashe. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Wolcott View Manor for their loving care and compassion during the six years at Wolcott View Manor, where Bob made his home. A special thanks also to his beloved daughter and best friend Patty, who was always by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Friday Dec. 31, at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
