Paul R. Gudaitis

Paul R. Gudaitis, 69, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. A loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, Paul was born in Terryville on February 4, 1953 to the late Steven and Genevieve (Syzmanski) Gudaitis.

Paul was a 1971 graduate of Terryville High School where he was a talented athlete and played varsity basketball. He was a 1975 graduate of the University of Connecticut.

He worked as a computer programmer at the Travelers where he met his wife, Dorine, and then as a database programmer at the Hartford Insurance Group for over 30 years where he was a highly regarded employee who worked on many special projects. In retirement, Paul tutored children in the Bristol public schools. The children loved him and called him Mr. G.

Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife and dedicated caregiver, Dorine DePaola and his brother, Michael Gudaitis. He is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Diane Aldi DePaola and her husband John Aldi of Old Saybrook, his sister-in-law, Dianne Gudaitis, his niece and nephews who cared dearly for him, Sharon Gudaitis and her husband, Tom Brackett, his nephew Christopher Gudaitis and his wife, Vicki, his nephew John Paul Aldi and his wife, Chayna and his nephew Michael Aldi and his wife Nicole, eight great nieces and nephews and many close friends who thought the world of him. Paul was a gentle, kind man with a heart of gold. As a teenager he played drums in his father’s polka band and went on to become a talented musician playing drums and guitar with his good friends for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 11 am at St. Anne Church, 215 West Street, Bristol, CT. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.
