Patricia Ellen (Dunn) Langdon died peacefully on July 13, 2023 after a long illness. Patricia was born on March 24, 1943 in Middletown, Connecticut the only child of the late Gerald Vincent and Lillian Louise (Luckhardt) Dunn. She grew up in Middletown, CT and Levittown, NY, graduating from Levittown Memorial High School in 1961.
In June, 1964, Pat graduated from the Flushing Hospital and Dispensary School of Nursing, and became a Registered Nurse (R.N.) specializing in intensive care. As a Registered Nurse, she served in hospitals located in New York, Florida, and Connecticut.
While residing in New York, she met Lorenzo W. “Rennie” Langdon, whom she married on November 14, 1964 in Middletown, CT. Together, Pat and Rennie had four children. After her youngest child started attending elementary school, Pat also went back to school, completing Bachelor of Science, (1982) and Master of Science (1985) degrees, and a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Administration and Supervision (1987) at Central Connecticut State University.
In 1982, Patricia accepted a position as Health Coordinator & Teacher in the Southington Public School System, and held that position until her retirement in 1999. During her teaching years, she also maintained a professional designation as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
Pat was an active volunteer for many years with The American Red Cross and The American Cancer Society. In 2009, she was named “Granny Apple” of the Southington Apple Harvest Festival when her oldest grandson wrote an essay explaining why his grandmother deserved that honor.
Pat enjoyed caring for her many canine companions, traveling to locations near and far (including her ancestral homeland of Ireland), knitting, and reading, but, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lorenzo W. “Rennie” Langdon, her children and their spouses Thomas P. (Rosemary Boone) Langdon, Patricia A. (John) McFadden, and Kelly L. (Randall) Jarvis, her grandchildren Marykate Ellen Rose Langdon, Thomas Hugh Michael Langdon, Ryan Thomas McFadden, Keegan Patrick Jarvis, Reilly Kevin Jarvis, and Kasey Brendan Jarvis, and her canine companion Lexie.
She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Patrick Langdon, her grandson, Kevin J. Langdon, and several of her canine and feline friends (Tippy, Sandy, Dixie, Hercules, Molly, Chelsea, Maggie, Dylan, Patches, Chubby, Mortimer and Mittens).
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 20th from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials contributions be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to an animal charity of the donor’s choice.
