Lois Aninger Sparano, 90, of Plantsville, CT passed away peacefully from a long illness on December 24, 2022 at Southington Care Center. Throughout her illness Lois was supported by the love of family, friends and the wonderful staff at the Southington Care Center. Lois was born in Hartford, CT on July 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Bernard and Viola (Pollock) Aninger. She was the beloved wife of Richard Sparano for 68 years of a beautiful and happy marriage.
Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an accomplished sewer/seamstress, a great cook and baker, and she enjoyed dabbling in artwork. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses, as was fostered by her parents. She competed in several equestrian events as a youth beginning at the age of four. Professionally, she worked as a nurse in her early career and then later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She always considered her greatest love and accomplishment to be her family whom she treasured and adored.
Lois will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Richard, her daughters Dawn Flohr and her husband George of Cheshire, CT; Susan Mead and her husband Charles of Estero FL; and Lori Blanco and her husband Michael of Cheshire, CT; 6 grandchildren; Jessica Hylen, Stephanie Barbierri, Amanda Barnett, Aleah Widmer, Paige Onofreo, Richard Blanco; 6 great grandchildren; Hudson and Knox Barbierri, Eva and Beckham Hylen, Parker and George Barnett, sister Brenda Acconcia and her partner Constantine Tsiros and her brother Bruce Simpson and his wife Deborah—all whom supported and loved her very deeply.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 30th at 11:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville, for a Mass of Christian burial at 12 p.m. Burial will occur at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 29th from 4-7 p.m.
