Lois M. (Laribee) Aldi of Southington entered into eternal peace at the age of 99 on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Born in Hartford on July 9, 1924 to the late Margaret (Zeimet) Laribee and Ralph L. Laribee. She was the wife of the late James C. Aldi. Lois lived in Southington all her life and attended Southington schools graduating in 1942 from Lewis High School. She was the Organist and Music Director at St. Thomas Church for 24 years and was the organist at St. Peters Church in New Britain. Lois belonged to the St. Thomas Church Ladies Guild, Altar Society and Lap Robe Ministry. She was past member of the Southington Women's Club serving on the Music & Scholarship Committees. In 1942, Lois was the first woman Bank Teller employed at Southington Savings Bank. She was the Chief Financial Officer of the James C. Aldi Company in Southington that she and her husband owned.
Lois is survived by her siblings Neil (Lucille) Laribee of FL, David (Emily) Laribee of MA, and caregiver nieces Lisa (Will) Lozier of Plainville and Linda (Michael) Blanchard of Plantsville along with her many treasured nieces and nephews Philip Laribee of Wallingford, Judy (Len) Laribee-Brown of VT, Karen (Thomas) Richard of FL, Alison (Luke) Simmons-Menand of MA, Laurie Simmons Conley of Granby, David Simmons of VT, Brenda Laribee of CA, Sharon Thompson (Mike) and Neila (Nick) Augielli of FL, and many great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special niece and friend Sharon Travis (Frank) of Avon.
Lois was predeceased by siblings Ralph S. and Elaine Laribee of Plantsville, Joyce and Walter Simmons of FL, Lucille and Paul Haldeman of FL, niece Kim Haldeman of FL and best friend Victoria Nigro of Southington.
Lois enjoyed birdwatching with her niece Lisa and was a member of the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society and went on the annual hawk watch for 38 years. Her travels took her to Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe including Germany where she was able to trace her mother's roots in Trier, Germany. In her later years, she enjoyed going to lunch and drives with her niece Linda.
The family would like to recognize the wonderful care that she received at The Orchards at Southington Assisted Living and her final days at the Southington Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 21st at 11 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St., Southington.
