Lillian Delores (Coccagna) Newell, 62, of Windsor, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 30, 2023 after her life long battle with heart and lung complications. She was the loving wife of Richard D. Newell. Lillian was born on September 13, 1960, a daughter of Valentino A. Coccagna and Mary A. (Aldi) Coccagna.
Lillian was a graduate of Southington High School. She was certified as an esthetician, and had her own business, Skin Esthetics in Plantsville. She also went to college and graduated Magna Cum Laude at Capital Community College/Manchester Community College receiving an associate degree, in Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counseling. She also went to school and received a CNA certification. She worked at Macy’s among other premiere locations for years before being unable to do so. She would share her expertise to beautify and educate countless clients that approached her counter representing Estee Lauder, Lancôme and Origins, becoming a counter manager.
Lillian had a passion for cooking, a love of her plants including gardening, horses, poetry she wrote and posted often, and other writings. She loved photography, especially pictures of sunrises on the CT River from her backyard in Windsor. She was an accomplished artist, and had a portfolio of drawings and sketches. She loved music and had a beautiful voice, singing opera when she was younger. She also loved to sing karaoke and won a trophy on her honeymoon cruise. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by and will be dearly missed by her devoted husband Richard Newell, son Tyler Paparello and his wife Amber of Southington, grandchildren Gian, Mia, and Stella, mother Mary A. Coccagna of Southington, brother Anthony Coccagna and his wife Florence of North Carolina, Carol Ladd of Southington, Nancy Coccagna of Hartford, Aunt Lorraine (Aldi) Murphy and her husband Thomas of Southington, Aunt Anne (Aldi) Alden of Kensington and partner Bruce Alexander of Rocky Hill, Uncle Edward Aldi and his wife Dawn of Southington, Aunt Rita (Coccagna) Ingriselli and her husband Alfred, Aunt Carmela (Coccagna) Bazzano and her late husband Arthur, sister-in-law Kelly Griffith of Bristol and partner Bill Cole of Windsor, sister-in-law Kory Martin, and husband Phil of Storrs, nieces, Christina Angeli of Southington, and Marci Nieves of Hartford, nephew Robert Martin of Storrs, grand-niece Isabella Ladd of Florida, and grand-nephew Vincent Ladd of Wallingford, extended family, many friends, her loving four-legged canine companion Penny, and cat Pepper.
She was predeceased by her father Valentino A. Coccagna of Southington, Uncle Abramo Coccagna and his wife Loretta, and her nephew Timothy Ladd of Southington.
Calling hours will be Sunday July 9th from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 10th at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
