Joseph Galen Morin, 74, of Plantsville, triumphantly entered Valhalla on January 19, 2021 after a valiant battle with multiple cancers. He was born in Sinclair, ME on April 24, 1946 to Clara (Bard) and Donat Morin.
The day after high school graduation, he proudly joined the Marine Corps. He fought two tours in Vietnam, earning numerous awards and medals including the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He always led from the front and was deeply respected by his men.
His service came to an end when he met and married Sofia (Sufin) and became the Best Dad in the World to his two daughters, Nicole (Morin) Organist and Sara Morin. He lived his life as a true Marine, being kind, considerate, and helpful to everyone he met. He had an adventurous spirit and loved skydiving, ocean fishing, and his last job as a truck driver.
He belonged to numerous military organizations including the National Guard, the Marine Corps League, and the Devil Dogs. Because of his great sense of humor, he made many friends and will be deeply missed by all.
Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by his sons-in-law Dan "The Man" Organist and Josh Lambert, several nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Buddy the Cat.
The family would like to thank all the staff of the Newington and West Haven VA, especially Dr. Michal Rose and Dr. Herta Chao, and the hospice nurses for their excellent care.
A celebration of life with military honors will be held February 20, 2021 from 4-6 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. For online condolences please visit www.dellavecchiasouthington.com
