Ingrid Bergman, age 95, of New Britain, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain General. Ingrid was born in Berlin, Germany on April 2, 1929 to the late Franz and Elfriede (Selchow) Höchsmann. A lover of all books and literature, she was employed as a book binder for many years of her adult life.
Ingrid was a doting grandmother or "Oma" as she was called by her family. She loved spending time with them all in any capacity. Her famous dish known by her grandkids as "Oma's Recipe" was certainly a family favorite and a secret to be treasured. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time outside gardening as well as sewing and mending various items for her family . Growing up in war torn Germany, life was not easy for Ingrid and her family, but the challenges they faced together made her appreciate her life here in the states just that much more. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
Ingrid is survived by her two children Peter Bergman and his wife Teri Yung of Australia, as well as her daughter Annette Falk and her husband Paul of Plantsville. She also leaves to cherish her memory her three grandchildren; Karen, Julie and Christopher Falk. Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jürgen Höchsmann.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be made to a charity of ones choice in Ingrid's honor. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home of Southington has been entrusted with arrangements.
