Gilbert “Bill” Saucier, 88, of Southington passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Southington Care Center. He was the loving husband of the late Bernice (Albert) Saucier and the late Geraldine (Godin) Saucier.
He was born April 11, 1935 in Soldier Pond, ME and was a son of the late Arthur and Eugenie (Bouchard) Saucier.
Bill moved to CT to start his family and was the owner of Bill’s Gulf Service for 22 years where he was well known for being a reliable and honest mechanic. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. After retiring, he returned to Eagle Lake, ME where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren at his red cabin on the lake. Many precious memories were made with family and friends and will be cherished always. His kind heart, gentle spirit and witty sense of humor touched many lives and he will be truly missed.
He is survived by his four children, Debbie Fraczek and wife Marge of Plantsville, Wayne Saucier and wife Diana of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bonnie Costello and husband Ed of Southington and Kathy Kirkland and husband Garrett of Southington; five grandchildren, Cole and Joe Criniti, Kyle and Miranda Saucier, and Elizabeth Costello. He is also survived by two brothers, and four sisters and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, with a special thanks to Liz and Leo for always taking the time to brighten his days and put a smile on his face. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
