He was born in Southington on Feb. 9, 1928, the son of the late Nicholas and Lucy (Carangelo) DeRosa. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army and the National Guard. Prior to his retirement 17 years ago he had been employed by State-Wide Foundation in Southington for many years. He was a member of the VFW ,Moose Club and the Scarpa Shoda Gang. He was an avid Poker Player and NY Yankee fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 5 children, Paul DeRosa of Southington, Ronald DeRosa of Middletown, Peter DeRosa of Bristol, Bernadette and her husband Paul Folino of Terrryville, Gene DeRosa and his wife Donna of Burlington, 3 brothers, Ralph of New Britain, Gene of Southington, and Nicholas of Waterbury a sister Rita Dube of Bristol, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Henry "Hank" DeRosa.
The Funeral will be held on Friday 915 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bristol with Military honors. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
