Erik was born in Waterbury on September 5, 1991 and attended Wolcott High School. He loved nature and enjoyed hiking in the woods for hours at a time. He also loved animals and once raised and bottle-fed four abandoned kittens. Erik was an excellent artist who enjoyed drawing and sketching.
Erik was a good kid who unfortunately suffered from the disease of addiction which ultimately led to his early death.
Besides his parents, Erik is survived by a brother Edward Nowak Jr. of Waterbury, his paternal grandparents Fred and Emile of Southington, his step grandmother Doreen Iorio of Bristol, his maternal great grandmother Louise MacBroom of Wolcott,
aunts and uncles, Grace Iorio, Jason Iorio and his wife Terry Gray Iorio, Linda Belcourt, Jaime Iorio, Danielle Rubin, Daniel Rubin, and Derek Rubin, his cousins Laura Lanza, Kayla Iorio and Alayna Baker, as well as many great aunts, uncles and 2nd cousins who loved him. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Frank and Andrea Iorio.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott, followed by a gathering at his mother’s home in Plantsville. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Margaret C. Griffin Child Development Center 240 Main St. Southington, CT 06489-2528. This is a self-supporting nursery school that both Erik and his brother attended and loved.
