She was born on October 28, 1946 in Siderno, Providence of Reggio, Calabria, Italy and was the daughter of the late Michael Vincent Crupi & Immacolata (Femia) Crupi.
Celestina came to Meriden, CT on December 14, 1964, several months after marrying Mario in her hometown of Siderno, Italy. Over the years she enjoyed raising her kids and participating in family functions. She was very practical and enjoyed the simple things in life such as music (Italian & country), playing set back (in Narragansett, RI) & preparing exceptional Italian cuisine for her family & friends where she provided countless pasta, braciole, cotoletta & polpetta (meatball) extravaganzas. Although her English and understanding of the American way of life improved over the years, she never lost her traditional Italian values from the hills of Italy. A loving wife and mother, she took life as it came (with its ups and downs) and never complained nor had a bad thing to say about anyone. She always made family her priority, creating a peaceful and loving environment. She said a lot with her gentle manner, the love for her family and gentle demeanor will never be forgotten. Her name was derived from the word celestial (heavenly), she lived up to her name every day of her life.
In addition to her husband she leaves two sons, Joseph, husband of Rita (Formica) Ferreri and Michael, husband of Cynthia (Morris) Ferreri both of Southington; six grandchildren, Juliana, Mario, Bianca, Kristina, Mario and Isabella; three sisters, Angela (Crupi) Zavaglia of Larchmont, NY, Ersilia (Crupi) Franco of Stignano, Italy; Rosetta (Crupi) Stalteri of Siderno, Italy. Celestina also has three sister-in-laws, Mary (Ferreri) Deleo of Toronto, Canada, Lina (Commisso) Crupi and Rosetta (Oppedisano) Crupi of Larchmont and Mamaroneck NY; a brother-in-law, Paolo Salubro of Siderno, Italy and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Attilio Crupi, a sister Esterina (Crupi) Salubro, and seven brothers-in-law, Frank and Immaculata (Figliomeni) Ferreri, Joseph and Helen (Ferreri) Salerno, Al and Elaine (Giddix) Ferreri, James Deleo, Antonio Franco, Franco Stalteri and Salvatore Zavaglia.
