Carol Ann Bak, 75, of Southington passed away Tuesday July 20, 2021 after a brief and courageous fight with cancer. She was the wife of Paul Bak Sr. for 55 years. She was Born November 30, 1945 in New Britain, the daughter of Joseph & Genevieve Martinelli. Carol graduated from Pulaski High School, where she met the love of her life, Paul. When they were first married they lived in New Britain before building their home in Southington, where they resided for over 50 years and where they raised both their children.
After raising her children, Carol decided to return to the workforce where she worked at Johnson & Johnson & Smiths Medical until retiring. Carol took such pride in her job as well as organizing trips and parties for the company, especially the Fall Fling at the Aqua Turf.
Carol loved to cook and entertain; her house was always decorated beautifully for the holiday’s and the aromas coming from her kitchen made your mouth water. She was known for her famous sausage breads which she would give to family, friends & even strangers - one bite and you were hooked. Carol also made homemade pierogies at Christmas time, each one of us had a job, Gloria boiled them, Chrissy made hors-d'oeuvres and poured wine but most of all she loved to make special treats for her grandchildren.
Paul & Carol owned a second home in Maine where she loved to spend her days visiting the local shops in Skowhegan where she made a lot of friends and touched many lives.
She enjoyed sitting around the firepit with newly made friends & her family enjoying the peaceful beauty with a glass of red wine and delicious food on the grill.
Her vegetable garden and flower garden were masterpieces, her time and effort yielded the most beautiful vegetables and flowers. She planted the garden so meticulously spacing her plants apart using a yard stick.
Saturday’s were a special time with her sister Gloria, yardwork, glasses of wine, listening to Rod Stewart and light-hearted conversation on the patio.
Carol loved to travel, whether it was going to the Cape with Elaine & Peggy or the annual girls’ trips with her daughter Chrissy, sister Gloria & Patty, they were always full of shenanigans and tons of laughs. But most of all she loved the special trips she would take with her daughter including her most recent trip to Aruba. No matter where Carol went she touched lives and forged long lasting friendships.
In addition to her husband Paul and their beautiful dog Shiloh, she is survived by her loving daughter Chrissy Bacon and her husband Christopher of Kensington, Paul Jr, and his wife Lynn of Kensington, sisters Gloria Martinelli of New Britain and Gayle Nesta and her husband Rocky of New Britain. She will be terribly missed by her grandchildren Michael and Matthew Bacon of Kensington & Brayden Bak and Michael Agrusso of Kensington, sister-in-law Elizabeth Bak. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother-in-laws John Bak Sr. of Southington and Thomas Bak of Plainville.
At Carol’s request there will be no services. Donations may be made in her honor to the Southington Bread for Life https://southingtonbreadforlife.org or an organization of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank all the Doctors & Nurses & Hospice care on N5 at the The Hospital of Central Connecticut for the special care and compassion given to Carol and her family.
