Barbara M. (Kimball) Hanson, 92, of Plantsville, CT beloved widow of the late Albert Hanson, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 after a brief illness. Barbara was born in Hollis, ME on March 19, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Bertha (Sanborn) Kimball. Barbara was an exceptional woman, who prided herself on making sure her family always came first! She loved to take care of EVERYONE, and especially loved and cared for children. A fantastic cook, she would make delicious meals for her family, and if you were lucky enough, she might just sing you a song, something she loved to do. She also loved to play the piano and enjoyed a good game of Rummy. At times, she would enjoy a nice walk, sometimes in Maine, and when she was able, sometime ago, she would read many books. It is said that when Barbara came through her door, she would greet her late husband Albert. He may not have been there in person, but her doing so meant she could still talk with him, which gave her peace. Her daughters will miss her daily phone conversations which usually ended with her singing to them. Barbara was a positive person who lived by her own saying, “Wake up in the morning and look in the mirror with a big, big smile. A smile goes a long, long way.” Barbara is survived by her daughters, Deborah Schreppel and her husband Frederick Jr. of Plantsville, and Patricia Fernandes and her husband, Joseph Sr. also of Plantsville. She was a loving grandmother to Chelsie Schreppel of CO, Joseph Fernandes Jr. and Andrew Fernandes also of Plantsville and great-grandmother to Evelyn Fernandes of Plantsville. Barbara is also survived by her brothers, Francis Kendrick and George Kendrick Jr., and also by her sister, Althea Smith and by many nieces and nephews. Barbara is also survived by her brother in law Larry Hanson and his wife Charlotte, and a sister in law, Florence Albert. She will also be missed by her little kitten, “Sweetie”. Barbara was predeceased by her siblings, Avis Whitten, Leah Bradeen, Shirley Reynolds, Thelma Taylor, Erma Chase, Donald Kimball, Norman Kimball, Everett Kimball, and her infant brother, Richard Kimball. A private burial in Laurel Hills Cemetery, Saco, ME for Barbara will take place in Maine where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and soul mate of 69 years. She will never be forgotten. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS TOOT-TOOT!
