Southington - Antonio F. "Anthony" Matos, 89 of Zwicks Farm Dr., Plantsville section, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Gilda Pirozzoli Matos.
Born December 25, 1918 in Ludlow, MA, a son of the late Theresa (DaCosta) Matos. Anthony was a veteran of WWII serving with the United State Army. He retired in 1985 from Handy and Harmon in Fairfield and was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Arlene Mazzadra and her husband Anthony of Plantsville and a son Brian A. Matos and his wife Eileen of Trumbull; three grandchildren, Monica Mazzadra, Renee Mazzadra and her partner Larissa, and Sean Matos along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Louis Moreno and two sisters Anna Dasilva and Clemintine Pires.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
