Anne was born in New Britain, CT to Czechoslovakian immigrant parents, the late John & Anna (Svitana) Soltis and was deeply proud of her Slovak heritage.
It was in New Britain, where Anne met and married the love of her life, her beloved Art. They were happily married for 50 years before Art’s passing 29 years ago. Anne & Art moved to Southington in 1955. Over the years, Anne worked as a faithful employee at Peck, Stow & Wilcox, Berlin Savings Bank, Southington Public Schools and as the beloved receptionist and first employee of Joseph Krar & Associates, Inc. After moving to Southington, Anne became an active communicant at St. Thomas Church and their Ladies Guild. She went on to help in the building of The Church of Saint Dominic in Southington. She travelled all over the state selling raffle tickets to raise the funds to build the new Church on Flanders Road. She became and served as a Eucharist Minister, participated in the daily mass and rosary and was a member of the Ladies of Saint Dominic. One of the true joys of her life was teaching in the CCD program and she ultimately became a Confirmation teacher. Her students loved and respected her and recognized her heartfelt love of God.
Throughout her life, Anne was a devout Catholic and never wavered in that faith. If Anne said she was going to pray for you, your name was added to her prayer book where it would forever remain. Over the years, the prayer list grew very long. Every night she would offer up her prayers to God for the names of the people listed in that book. In her later years, she would pray over the book, letting God know that He knew everyone’s needs better than she did. Fourteen years ago, Anne suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury and even though she lost of the use of her arms and ability to do things by and for herself, she never wavered in her faith and commitment to her daily prayer life, belief in God and her devotion to the Blessed Mother! She never questioned why me? She was filled with her faith and forgiveness and truly lived her life full of grace!
