Margaret M. Gibbs died on Monday, June 18, 2018 at her residence. She was seventy-nine years of age. She was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Catherine Cratin Werner. Margaret was a Warminster resident for the past thirty-eight years. She had previously lived in many areas of the country, while her husband Edward served in the United States Marine Corps.
During Edward’s service overseas, which included two tours in Vietnam and many other years of deployment abroad without the family, Margaret was left to raise their 5 children; only another Marine Wife could understand. She was a proud Marine Wife. The only thing that she disliked about this role was the number of times she was made to relocate, having moved 26 times in 30 years. Those that knew Margaret, knew that she was the perfect Marine Wife.
Mrs. Gibbs was a teacher’s aid. She had been employed at Eugene Klinger Middle School in Southampton from 1980 to 2000. She was beloved by her students and respected by the teachers with whom she worked. She was a member and past Chaplain for the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6493 in Warminster. She was an avid reader and very talented quilter. Margaret loved travel, going to the theater and the beach. Margaret and Edward particularly enjoyed the annual trip to the Marine Corps Lima Company’s Vietnam Veterans reunions.
Margaret was the beloved wife of Edward J. Gibbs for sixty-one years. She was the devoted mother of Edward Gibbs Jr. (Diane) of Port Monmouth NJ, Tracy Spurgeon (Kevin) of Warrington, Mark Gibbs (Nora) of Line Lexington, Scott Gibbs of Chalfont and Patrick Gibbs of Mountlake Terrace WA. She was the loving grandmother of Maggie, Edward III, Kevin, Ally, Diana, Max and Alyssa. She was the great grandmother of Ava, Aiden and Jameson. She was the devoted sister of Sue Franks, Joan DeChurches, the late Cass Chilcott and the late Charles Werner.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. John Bosco Church, 215 E. County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM. A reception will follow at the VFW Post 6493, 645 Louis Drive, Warminster, PA 18974. Her inurnment will be private.
“To your happy day.”
