Helen was a long time resident of Feasterville, PA. Born July 12, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA, to parents, Gottlieb Layer and Anna Pregenzer, she went on to graduate from Frankford High School in 1944. Helen worked at Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia from 1944 to 1946, married the love of her life on April 10, 1946, and was employed at Abar Ipsen in 1976 until 1996. Unquestionably, her most important life's work was that of a dedicated homemaker and loving wife and mother to her husband and four daughters.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family above all else and was treasured by all who knew her. Helen was a woman of faith and generosity. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or any holiday; always honoring each special moment with a card or sentiment. She volunteered her time at the Library of Lower Southampton for many years. She looked forward to making memories on her annual trips with her 4 daughters. All her life she loved to play games and cards and was an exceptional pinochle player.
Helen had a passion for sewing. She sewed 3 of her daughters’ wedding dresses as well as clothing for the whole family. She was a talented crocheter, making beautiful table cloths, lap blankets for the senior homes, and cherished baby blankets. Puzzling was another of Helen’s favorite things to do. She did puzzles up to the day of her death. With her passing we are all missing a piece of our hearts.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles S Blood and her sister, Martha Ostertag.
Helen is survived by her 4 daughters; Linda Busz (late Ronald Busz) of Newtown, Lorraine McMahon and husband, Bruce, of Doylestown, Laura Schmitzer and husband, Frank, of Doylestown and Lisa Trail and husband, Raymond, of Doylestown. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren,
