Lifelong resident of South Milwaukee. Born to eternal life on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Florence. Dear son of the late John and the late Regina Skorupski. Loving father of the late Michael (Debra) Skorupski and David Skorupski. Proud grandfather of Ann and Tony Skorupski. Cherished brother of the late Stanley Skorupski and the late Harriet (the late Lester) Tiews. Special uncle of Karen, Mark, Kathy, Bill, Michael, Jim, Thomas Jr., Brian and Allan. Fond brother-in-law of the late Phyllis (the late John) Halboth, Virginia (the late Ed) Cavanaugh, and the late Thomas (the late Helen) Lewandowski. Fond relative of Zbigniew and Maria Skorupski and family in Poland. Dear friend of Ruth and Bob Wisniewski, Herb and Dot Dallman, the late Philip and Frances Rouse, the late Jim and Beverly O'Neall, and all his Coffee Club Friends. Further survived by other relatives and good friends. John was the superintendent of the South Milwaukee Water Dept. from 1952-1990 and served on the South Milw. Water Utility Commission for many years. He was National Director of the AWWA representing WI Chairman of the WI Water Association and WSWP. He also received the AWWA Lifetime Acheivement Award and the Fuller Award for Distinguished Service in the water industry field. Proud WWII US Navy Veteran and actively served with the 32nd Division 12th Battalion in the Pacific from 1938-1945. He fought bravely at the Battle of Midway, Pearl Harbor and Kaneoke Bay Theater. He received the following medals: the Asiatic Pacific-5 Stars, the American Theater, and the African European-Bronze "A". Member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 3742 in South Milwaukee. Devoted Lions Club member since 1965 and he held all offices including President. Former member of the St. John's Building Commission. Avid golfer and bowler. Many thank you's to the "Special Angels" at Midwest Dialysis-Lakeshore in St. Francis and the loving and devoted caregivers at the Franciscan House, Gardens, and Villa. John was a 1939 graduate of South Milwaukee High School. Former employee of Bucyrus Erie. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, September 30, 10:30AM at Divine Mercy Church, 800 Marquette Ave., South Milwaukee. Visitation at church from 9am until the time of Mass. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, people are encouraged to donate to Midwest Dialysis-Lakeshore, where John received three years of dialysis and made many friends. Contributions will benefit those in need and will be used for equipment, ID bracelets, bus tickets, and for other necessities.
