He was the son of Thomas Frederick Scanlon and Frances Catherine Beringer Scanlon. He suffered from congestive heart failure and collateral damage from cancer radiation treatment. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Patricia Romaniello Scanlon. Affectionately called “Woots,” she was the love of his life, best friend and confidant.
Besides his wife, Tom is also survived by his daughter Kelly Ann Anderson of Falmouth and her husband Robert, his son Kevin Thomas Scanlon of Uxbridge and his wife Angela, and grandsons Kolbe and Kolton Scanlon. He is also survived by his sister Maureen DeMarco of East Dennis.
Tom attended the Worcester Public Schools and then graduated from Assumption Preparatory School in 1960 and Holy Cross College in 1964. He received a master’s degree from Worcester State College in 1967. He was employed by the Bellingham School Department for 38 years before his retirement in 2003. He held numerous positions including: classroom teacher, vice principal, principal and the director of the Bellingham Summer Enrichment Program. He was a former member of the Bellingham Teachers’ Association, MTA, MESPA, and the NESPA. He was a member of the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service in 1970.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date.
