Patricia was born on May 1, 1940 in Provincetown to Domingo and Louise Malaquias. Pat graduated from Provincetown High School in 1958. In her yearbook, Pat wrote that she thought that she was destined to be a Social Worker. In her thirties Pat had a brain tumor and aneurysm that left her paralyzed on her left side and unable to walk or talk. With the help of her amazing physical therapist, Marcia Enos, and Pat’s determination she was able to live independently. In 1990 Pat married her best friend and love of her life Fred Shaw. They had nine years of marriage before Fred passed away from cancer. Prior to being married they shared ten wonderful years together. In 2011, Pat once again suffered from a ruptured aneurysm. She was not able to overcome this challenge and was unable to live independently. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s the Apostle Church in Provincetown.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Fred, her siblings Katleen Silva (Elmer), Louise DeSilva (Herman), Domingo Malaquias (Jean), Paul Malaquias (Pat), her brother-in-law Bobby Dutra, and her son Michael.
