Olga Emilie (Schwendler) Hausser, 90, of Brewster, MA (Meadowlace Farm) and Monhegan Island, ME (Lower Lights) entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was the loving wife of nearly 70 years to Bruce Edwin Hausser.
Olga was born in Amityville, LI, NY on August 22, 1934. She was the daughter of the late William T. Schwendler (a founder and chief engineer of Grumman Aerospace) and Mable Rebecca (Jorden) Schwendler. Olga grew up in Farmingdale, LI, NY where she attended elementary school through high school. She was an avid horseback rider, played field hockey, was a competitive swimmer (Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club) and member of the biology club. She received her BA in Science and Landscape Design at Wheaton College in Norton, MA, while in college she continued her passion of horseback riding, was a member of the synchronized swim team and biology club.
Olga and Bruce had known each other all of their lives and married on January 26, 1956. They lived in Conshocken, PA for a brief time before moving to Huntington, LI, NY where they raised their children Penny and Peter and resided for 27 years. They also founded their side business, Weather House Landscape Designs, which they oversaw for 35 years. Olga was active in community service. She and Bruce were members of many equine clubs including Paumanock Driving (LI, NY), Carriage Association of America (KY), New England Region of the Carriage Association of America, Mass., Driving Club plus Old Chester Hills Civic Association (LI, NY).
Olga and Bruce moved to Brewster 35 years ago. They were members of the South-Hill Civic Association and Brewster Historic Society and other organizations.
Olga travelled with her husband and occasionally with family to Germany, Europe, Iceland, South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, China, Papa new Guinea and the Caribbean. She appreciated genealogy and during these trips enjoyed finding family and ancestorial homes.
In addition to her husband Bruce Edwin Hausser, Olga is survived by her children Penny Hope (Hausser) Holeman of Brewster, MA and Peter Gregory Hausser (Kathi) of West Barnstable, MA; her grandchildren Dr. Haley Emilie (Hausser) Schmitt (Brad) of Nashville, TN, Brooks Edwin Hausser (Maggie Huang) of Berwick, ME, Dr. Reed William Hausser of San Francisco, CA and William “Pieper” Holeman of Washington, DC; her great-grandchildren Kaid William Schmitt and Kennedy Rose Schmitt; her sister Haze (Schwendler) (Pease) Veillette (George) and her sister-in-law Barbara (Deiss) Schwendler. She is predeceased by her brother William T. Schwender Jr.
Visiting hours will take place Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Cape Cod, 1883 Main St. (Rt. 6A), Brewster, MA 02631 from 9:30-11 AM immediately followed by an 11 AM service and a luncheon.
