Nina E. Liss was born in Newark, N.J. on March 31, 1930 to the late Evelyn Zorn Liss and Dr. Isadore G. Liss. She graduated from South Side High School in Newark and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, N.J. with election to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a Master of Science degree from Newark State College and attained a Doctorate Equivalency in Administration and Supervision by completing graduate courses at Seton Hall and Rutgers Universities, N.J. Miss Liss was an accomplished pianist and published composer.
A versatile educator and administrator, she taught for 12 years and was an elementary vice principal for 20 years in Newark, N.J. She was also a counselor at Camp Lenore in Hinsdale, MA.
Nina spent many summers and holidays on Cape Cod and retired there in Brewster in 1983. She was a volunteer for 20 years at the Orleans Convalescent and Retirement Center. Since she was an accomplished pianist it was only natural that she entertain at O.C.R.C. for every holiday, on special occasions, and at a weekly exercise program.
Nina is survived by several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lila B. Liss; and her long time friend, June E. Brickman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 2 P.M. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis. Interment will be held privately at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brewster.
