Mary E. Griffin Kelly

Mary E. Kelly, 82 of Brewster died peacefully at the Cape Cod Hospital on Sept 20th. after a brief illness. Mary was born in Boston to James and Delia (Lawless) Griffin. She attended St Peters Grammar School in Dorchester and graduated from the Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester. She also lived in Hyde Park for 28 years before retiring to Brewster 20 years ago. She was the former office manager for Marine Optical in Roslindale. She loved spending time with her grandchildren on Greenland Pond in Brewster. She also enjoyed painting, gardening and was an active member of Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster.

She leaves her husband of 61 years Thomas J. Kelly of Brewster and her 6 children; Thomas W. Kelly and his wife Jean of Milton, Ma., Janet McCarthy and her husband Paul of Sandwich, Paul Kelly and his wife Nancy of Quincy, David Kelly and his wife Jean of Marshfield, Michael Kelly and his wife Patricia of Weymouth and Timothy P. Kelly and his wife Catherine of Marshfield. In additon she leaves two sisters, Louise McEvoy of Pembroke, Laura Mace and her husband Richard of Stoughton and a brother James Griffin and his wife Jean of Barnstable. Mary also leaves her beloved 17 grandchildren. She was predeaced by her sister Margaret Griffin.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday Sept 24 at Our Lady of the Cape Church Brewster at 11am. Visiting hours will be held at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home 729 Rt 134 S. Dennis on Thursday Sept 23 from 3-7pm. Interment to follow at the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
