Marie (McGrath) Porazzo (76) ofWest Yarmouth, MA Born July 5, 1939 to Herman & Margaret (Jackson) McGrath in the small town of Sharon, Massachusetts, which she described as her “source of strength.” Marie so loved the Town of Sharon and often dreamed of returning to purchase 77 Billings Street, her treasured family home. She moved to Cape Cod in 1972 with her husband, Carmen and young family. She showed her ever present halo and spread her wings toward heaven on April 19, 2016.
Her employment began as a stewardess for American Airlines and then later an employee of Cape Cod Healthcare for over 30 years. Her greatest accomplishment was her family who called her mom/best friend, “an angel on earth”, nana, Aunt Cheech, friend, confidant, sounding board and travel companion. She was a vital part of her family’s daily lives and her loss is completely devastating.
An avid golfer at Bass River Golf Course since the early 80’s, she developed many long lasting friendships at the course. She had a huge group of friends from the golf course to her school “chums” in Sharon as well as her 30+ years at Cape Cod Hospital. She treasured each and every one of them. She touched so many and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Carmen, her brothers Herman, Albert, William, Richard and sisters, Catherine and Peggy, as well as her niece Margaret and her great nieces, Melanie and Lilly.
Survived by her brother Thomas McGrath, her daughters and their husbands, Lisa & Charles Gallagher, Margie & John Norton and Kathy & Greg Ladner. Her grandchildren Stephanie and Jessica Mello, Joshua and Nicholas Gallagher, Gregory, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Jacob Ladner, Jayme and Riley Norton as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved & adored.
Her visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4-8pm in Doane Beal Ames, 729 Route 134, S. Dennis, MA. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 12noon in St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara Street, South Yarmouth, MA.
