Lisa Ann Hendrix (Reagan) 62, of East Dennis, MA, peacefully passed at home in the early morning hours of July 26th. She was surrounded by her loving family who had been attending to her for her last days.
Born to Genevieve (Kelleher) and William Reagan, Lisa was one of four siblings. She was raised in Medfield, Massachusetts. A graduate of Medfield High School and Providence College with a major in Linguistics, Lisa went on to work in technology sales, real estate and more recently as a paralegal in Chatham. Lisa met her husband Todd while working for Data General Corporation. Todd, from Monteagle, Tennessee, was an unlikely match for Lisa, “not my type” she swore, but his southern charm, wit and determination quickly won her over. He followed her to New England where they built a life together.
Returning to Medfield where they raised their family, Lisa enjoyed her boys’ soccer games, cousin gatherings and reconnecting with childhood friends. Lisa was a consummate Patriots fan “before they started winning.” God help anyone who called her during games. She followed the news like it was her job and could tell you what the traffic situation was, well before Waze and Google Maps. Her father often referred to her as ‘CNN East” for her newsie prowess, though recently that moniker may have included FOX. She and her family lived in England for two years, experiencing all that British culture had to offer - especially its history and gardens.
Lisa and Todd moved to Dennis to enjoy the Cape Cod beaches, salt air and laid-back lifestyle. Lisa loved Jeopardy, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Scrabble, Yellow Tail chardonnay, coffee ice cream, and many loving dogs, most recently Bo her chocolate labradoodle.
Diagnosed with an extremely rare form of brain cancer in March, Lisa chose to forgo treatment and decided to live every day she had left with as much enthusiasm, joy and engagement as she could muster. Boy did she commit! She traveled to Florida, Martha’s Vineyard and Provincetown. She hosted pool parties, attended beach parties and multiple cookouts. She even went on a seal watch! She enjoyed neighborhood dog visits, Mexican restaurants and many outings to Nauset Beach with her beloved cousin Susan and her husband Mike.
Lisa is survived by her husband Todd Hendrix; her son Michael Hendrix and his wife Mary Lauran of Somerville, MA; her son Alex Hendrix and his wife Kim George of Bristow, VA; her twin sister Maryalice Whalen and her husband Jim of Freeport, ME; her brother Bill Reagan and his partner Betsy Money of Maineville, OH and her brother Michael Reagan and his wife Jane of Boulder, CO.
Lisa leaves her granddaughters Maggie, Hazel, June and Caroline; as well as the following nieces and nephews: Kathryn, Benjamin and Matthew Whalen, Jacob, Kailey, Sara, Jack, Conner and Brian Reagan. She is predeceased by her parents and her niece Samantha Reagan.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 13th at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church in Brewster. Visitation will be at the Church from 10-11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cape Cod VNA and especially the Hospice staff that helped guide and support us all through Lisa’s final months.
