Julia H. Riedl, 95, died peacefully April 3, 2011 surrounded by family. Born in Oakham MA, she grew up in Spencer and graduated from David Prouty High School. She began working as a waitress at a Swedish boarding house upon graduation and was married to Louis J. Riedl Sr. (who predeceased her in 1998) shortly after graduation. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Most of her married life she resided in Worcester where she worked for the city while raising her family. They relocated to the Cape in 1977 where she unselfishly donated her time to the Senior Center, Our Lady of The Cape Church, thrift store and ladies guild. Throughout her life, she was a total optimist, always seeing the bright side of every situation. People and her family were her greatest passions. She was always willing to babysit, help to raise children and assist anyone in need. In her later years, she cared for the elderly, many of whom were younger than her. An avid reader, she also loved the beach, the Red Sox and traveling whether it was a day trip or an international excursion.
She is survived by her sons, Louis J Riedl and wife Joyce of New Mexico, Donald and wife Janice of Brewster, MA and daughter Louise Franco of S. Dennis. She also leaves her brother George Harris of Worcester as well as 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
