Judy graduated from White Plains High School in 1958, with honors, and from the State University of New York – New Paltz, after which she married the late Garrie Whalen and later had a son, Ryan.
Judy was a schoolteacher before becoming a homemaker and enjoyed many adventures traveling across Europe in relation to her husband’s career in the 1970s and 80s. She and their son later made their home on Cape Cod, where she worked for many years in fundraising for the American Cancer Society, and in real estate. In recent years, she moved to Londonderry, NH, to be near her son and his family.
Her hobbies and interests included spending time with family, talking with friends, cooking, gardening, art, watching her beloved Patriots, and reading.
Mrs. Whalen is survived by her sister, Patricia Crookshank and her husband Anthony; brother, Ron Koller and his wife Rose; 1 son, Ryan, and his wife, Micaela; 1 grandchild, Katherine Judith, and 4 nephews and their families.
Calling hours will be held at Doane Beal & Ames in South Dennis, MA, on Jan. 3rd from 4-6pm, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Cape Cod Church in Brewster, MA on Jan. 4th. at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod in Hyannis, an organization at which Judy volunteered for many years.
